Ultrafiltration
Ultrafiltration (UF) is an advanced membrane-based water treatment process that removes suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and high molecular weight compounds from water, producing crystal-clear, high-quality water. At RTW UK, we integrate UF technology into our systems to provide industries with reliable pre-treatment solutions, improve water reuse efficiency, and protect downstream processes like Reverse Osmosis (RO).

How Ultrafiltration Works
Ultrafiltration uses semi-permeable membranes with pore sizes typically around 0.01 microns. These membranes act as a physical barrier, allowing water and smaller molecules to pass through while retaining suspended particles, microorganisms, and other impurities.
Process Steps
Pre-Filtration
Water is pre-treated to remove larger debris and reduce the load on the UF membranes.
Membrane Filtration
The water is pushed through the UF membranes under low pressure, separating contaminants from the permeate (filtered water).
Backwashing
Regular cleaning of the membranes ensures consistent performance and longevity.
Key Features and Benefits of UF Technology
High Filtration Efficiency
Removes up to 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and suspended solids.
Chemical-Free Process
Operates without the need for chemicals, ensuring an environmentally friendly solution.
Protects Downstream Systems
Serves as an effective pre-treatment for processes like RO, extending membrane life and enhancing performance.
Compact and Modular Design
UF systems are space-saving and easy to scale, making them ideal for various industrial and municipal applications.
Low Energy Consumption
Operates at low pressures, reducing energy costs compared to other filtration methods.
Enhanced Water Reuse
Produces high-quality water suitable for reuse in industrial processes or as feedwater for advanced treatment stages.
