How Multi-Effect Evaporators Work

The MEE system operates by using a series of evaporators (effects) where wastewater is heated to produce vapor, which is then condensed into purified water. The heat energy from one stage is reused in the next, maximizing thermal efficiency and reducing operational costs.

Process Steps

Preheating

The wastewater is preheated to increase energy efficiency.

Evaporation

Heat is applied to the first effect, causing the water to evaporate and separate from dissolved solids and impurities.

Energy Recycling

The vapor generated in one effect is used as a heating source for the next effect, significantly reducing energy consumption.

Concentration

The residual wastewater becomes progressively more concentrated through successive effects, resulting in a solid or semi-solid residue.

Condensation

The vapor is condensed and collected as distilled water, ready for reuse or discharge according to environmental standards.
